well i have had both and the ex will take the shee with two skilled riders but if the person on the ex screws up the shee will take it....but if you throw on some pipes and jet it and the ex stands no chance .the shee will eat it up....................

everyone always says its all rider skill it doesnt take much to mash the throttle in a drag race if its all rider lets see me beat a predator or a 450r all the kid needs to do is know how to use a clutch and hes set no matter how good or bad i may be rider skill only matters in races that require position and ability to work a clutch not just drop 1 and fly down a straight away MX requires rider talent as well as XC im sure TT does to but drag racing isnt much the one with more ponies is faster in almost all cases

250ex vs pred/450r well yes the person on the 450 will most likely win but your talking about both ends of the spectrum.
your 250ex is a beginer level atv and the 450r is the badest honda has to offer.

remember until 04 the 400ex was honda's bad boy and the banshee was yamaha's.

who will win in a drag race ? rider with more skill

which atv is faster in a 300' drag race? banshee

put the same rider on both and let them run 3 passes on each,
on a timed strip (take the average of each) and he will be faster on the banshee but there wouldnt be a great diff. in times.
imo

05-04-2007, 01:46 PM
banshee is still yamahas baddest....LT500 is still suzukis and the 250r is still the baddest honda has to offer

As far as quads are concerned, agreed.

this is a whole other thread but I think the yfz vs the banshee (both in stock form) would have the yfz in front.

I sold my 250r because it couldnt hold its own vs the 450r
(remember its a drag race)

and I was refering to the current models in my last post.

atvrider23054
05-04-2007, 07:20 PM
i fyou were talking about the current models than yea i agree. And stock vs stock a 450r beats a 250r?

450rJam
05-05-2007, 12:30 PM
my stock 06 450r spanked my 87 250r w/turner race pipe, K&n,and a fresh top end.

the 250r would still corner better by a long shot.

the stock banshee would prob. get taken by the 700r also (stock)

mod the banshee and it will take all comers, they can be opened up to breath real well.

05-05-2007, 02:53 PM
piped rejet and filtered banshee would beat any other quad with the same mods at the strip, besides maybe a zilla

450rJam
05-05-2007, 04:37 PM
too many varriables,

a piped/jetted K&N
banshee vs 700r

most skilled rider again (but it would be close with equal riders)
imo

isnt the outlaw 525 the sheee killa.:(

whos acctally seen a 525 in person? let alone rode own or has owned one. The banshee and LT500 are still kings of the sand and drag strip. No other quad on the market can be modded to compete with these 2 strokes. Especially when you start to get into a 420, 500, 535 shees and fully built LT500s

Hahaha...right...What are the specs? Without Boost, Juice or a swap a 4 stroke wont even come close...its not a belief...its a proven fact.

What do you consider a big bore Banshee? a 370?

Not sure what the specs where. There was 2 main machines that was beating everyone theday i was up there. A Blue/Chrome YFZ and a Bluish colored banshee. Both where a good race. The banshe has drag pipes, diffrent cylinders of some sort. They where both factory engines/ All engine no turbos. The YFZ would always take the banshee by about 4 lengths.

Sorry I had a banshee too. I loved it but I am telling you the 4-strokes these days are flat out flying

My friends stock 450 was taking drag piped shees at the dunes when he had his Honda 450. Its all about gearing and traction.

Anyways who said anything about how much horse power they had?

Hmmmmmmmmm my 07 yfz450 absolutely destoys my friends 06 banshee Theres no comparison.....banshees are over rated and out dated thats why yamaha stopped making them. Stock for stock ----winner 450---- Banshee suspension sucks , cornering sucks, you mine as well have and 85' Big Red.....lol

That isn't the reason they stoped making them. Its emmision laws;)

06-10-2007, 07:39 PM
Yea they wouldnt stop making it for that reason. If that was the case then they would just update it. :chinese:

right....it's out dated...you can only get a 2-stroke so "emission friendly"........

its so obvious you dont know what your talking about....

sledneck1212
06-11-2007, 03:19 PM
What that means Honda86 for the educationally challenged is, that it is probably a lot cheaper and easier for companies to make a 4-stroke more emissions friendly than a 2-stroke, and hey, thats just my opinion, and if you want, i can spell that word for you again, O.P.I.N.I.O.N. thats under the O section in a dictionary. :D

polaris dont seem to have trouble with the 2 stroke atv emisions or snow mobiles, still 2 stroke jet ski's

the banshee is just not selling like it use to, the yfz and rappy have made it expendable.

it was made for too many years to see them disapear though

you will see them ripping sand for a long time to come

theres no need to bash on the banshee.the suspension definatley is not the best in stock form but it aint that bad believe me i put mine through hell and back...if u think its that bad then u just dont kno how to ride it

id rather a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke any day of the week. Thus the reason, that this coming weekend im buying a banshee and im building a 250r.

how would a 440 do against a stock banshee?

07-19-2007, 05:12 PM
Read this and you decide. My 400ex is stock but weighs more from all the parts on it and my friends banshee is stock has no mods at all and is lighter. banshees are fast but they dont utilize the power as good as other quads. My 400ex has 27.2HP at the wheels and also weighs over 400lbs with the stuff I have on it and every time my friend and I race he is about 1 - 1 1/2 lengths ahead of me. Sometimes I have beaten him or we run even. Banshee top speed is around 78MPH and 400ex is around 72MPH. My atv has almost half te HP of his but yet we run close.

In other words a 400ex with a pipe, jet kit, k&n can beat a banshee. a 416 would deffinately beat a stock banshee if a stock 400ex can sometimes or run close.

about the emmisions they did test between 2 stroke and 4 stroke comparred to the car emmision laws.

Car 1.6
4 stroke 2.4
2 stroke 56.3

this was messuring the grams of something over 1 mile. If I can find the test I will post them up. I cant remember the chemicals they were mesuring. Anyways a 416 will deffinately win against a banshee. If a stock 400ex can run with it, beat it by 1 length, or be behind 2 lengths tops then a 416 would win.
