450r fan (not working)

My 05 450r fan is not running and my quad wants to over heat when I am running slow technical parts of tracks where I am at high RPM's and not much air moving over the radiator.

My main question is how is it activated? could it be the mechanism that activates the fan or should I buy a whole new fan?

how do you konw the quad wants to over heat? Is the light coming on? I have my fan running continusly and all you have to do is ground the wire that is the head pipe.

when I sit and idle steam starts to roll from under the hood....fan still not on. I was wondering how the fan knows to turn on? it looks like there is a clear tube going to it and I was wondering if it was like an overflow for coolant that would switch it on?? I have no clue with how it works

there is a theormostat next to the top left of the motor that gets the readings of the temp. Just ground that wire and you will have a continues running fan.
