other then perscribed antibiotics, you can use a very hot towel to help relieve some of the pain....a stiff drink doesnt hurt either

I used to get really bad ear infections as a kid and my Mom used to put warm oil in mine,it was like olive oil or something. If you dont do it alot its a good way to chill the pain.
Ear aches and toothaches are the worst!:(

Put some Alcohol on a Q-Tip and kinda rub the inside of the ear a little bit. Would help it temporarily but if it hurts real bad i would go to a doctor......Especially if you want to hear in the future...lol

Our maybe some good ole' fashion Vitamin P if ya know what i mean...lol

Same here. Mom used Mineral Oil. Heated it in the microwave and poured it into our ears. Then we'd let it stand in there for a while, while laying down and it always broke up the wax.

heat up salt in a pan, put it in a wash clothe (like make a little ball out of it and rubber band it)

then lay down on the side with the infected ear on the salt pack, the heat draws the infection out

my ears are all jacked up, the little flapper in there thats supposed to let stuff out but not in is backwards in my ears, so it let stuff in, but wont let anything out, the salt is one of the few painless effective "old indian tricks" i have tried

Go to the doctor and get it taken care of. I wouldn't chance your hearing over something so simple.

I would recommend seeing a ENT dr. not a general practioner. I have fought sinus/ear infections for years. Finally went to a ent specialist, and now I'm much better. Not 100% but gettin there. The general family dr. will just prescribe what he gets kickbacks on for meds LOL. They just want you to keep coming back over and over.

i remember my grandpa blowing pipe smoke into my ear to ease the pain.. it had a numbing effect..

not sure how todays world would view that sort of thing..

LOL my Granny done that to me too!:p

If I went to a Dr. for every single ear infection I had my Mom would be broke.I agree if youfeel its pretty bad, I would go in. I have ruptured mine before and that sucks :( Even some Dr.'s will tell you to try and wait out an ear infection out unless you think its really bad, especially if your a person prone to taking alot of anitbiotics.Surprising enough, they usually clear up on there own. in a day or two.

i have one bad ear, litterally 24/7 infection in winter/fall time and its always dripping puss/wax. i go to the ENT doctor to get it scraped/cleaned out, it never ever hurts anymore but it did when i got the first couple infections last year. really if it gets worse, go to a doctor, u dont want an ear like mine lol. pouring peroxide in it should make it feel better, although it fizzes and stuff so it kinda tickles

id def go to the doctor. when i was little i got an ear infection, went to the doctor and they told me i would have to have surgery. i got tubes put in both ears to drain everything out. dont risk it. go to the doctor because you could have the same problem and thats the only way to fix it.

Some type of nasal decongestant or allergy medicine may help some but we don't mess around with earaches around here. Taylor gets them several times a year and almost always has a rupture even with the antibiotics. Poor girl. We also use warm peroxide especially if it ruptures. It's pretty gross like someone blew their nose in your ear. EEWWWW!!! It's the pressure that causes the pain.

You need to see if it's inside the eardrum or in the outer ear canal like swimmer's ear.

MY boy had to have 2 sets of tubes by the time he was 18 months old AND his adnoids removed. His adnoids was the biggest culprit and after they took it out,no more infections! He was on so many antibiotics nothing was working after awhile.:ermm:
