I wanna know everyones opinion.I want to know the best 440 setup that will deliver the most horsepower. What Cam,Piston,Carburator,440 kit the whole 9 yards.Or would i be better off letting CT racing engines or TC Racing install the best parts.I know this gets asked alot but I wanna know specific details. If anyone has had their 440 dynoed let me know how much horsepower and what you have in it.Because I'm looking to find the best one for a winter project.

Thanks

i don't have a 440, but from what i've heard FCR 39mm would be a good carb, TC mx grind cam, and a JE piston. if i had to choose engine builders, i'd probly go with CT Racing, i've heard a lot of good things about them, LRD and TC is good also, but i've heard TC takes a long time with their engines

Just letting you know that to be careful with CT!!!!!! Make sure you take pictures of what you send him IN THE BOX!! He likes to say that when he recieves the parts that you send him (ex. rockers), he likes to pull " We'll, I've only recieved 3 so I missing one, so your gonna have to buy another one". Sounds nice doesn't it?, considering you knew everything was there!!!! Be Careful!!

My buddies set up is pretty quick. He can run side-by-side with my piped Raptor. He's the only EX that's ever been able to do that. Other than the SUPER EX's that were at last years Four Stroke Wars. His mods are:
2001 400EX
I.M.S. 440 kit
GT Thunder cam
Head ported and polished
Keihin 39mm FCR carb
Spark's X6 pipe
All the other big bore's that I have come across I have beaten on my Raptor.

He did all the assembly himself. The machine work was done by a local shop here in Arizona called Shortblock Charlie's.

unstopable1,

check out GT Thunder, Pro-Fab, FST, and FDO they are all back east.

RaptorAZ,

Does your buddy's 440 stay with you to the top of Olds or the drag pit, or are you racing on hard, flat surfaces? I thought that my bike [a CT440] which puts out @42hp would beat my friends' piped Raptors up Olds. Wrong. They pull me 3-10 bike lengths, all in the last 300 yards. Those extra cc's can't be denied at the top. I in turn beat stock Raptors by the same distances. At the drag pit, I have them by a few lengths until we get to the top of 5th and then they shift into 6th and start to walk. In defense of my little Honda, I weigh @ 80lbs more than them.

We have yet to race at the dunes. We did some more racing yesterday though. Same results. It all comes down to the launch. Whoever gets the better start, wins. on the races where we get an even start, we are side by side. All the way through 5th gear. He's using a 36 tooth rear sprocket to aid top end. His motor does feel stronger than mine though. He has a lot more lowend torque. I won't be surprised if he beats me up Olds hill. I think all that lowend torque is going to allow him to pull a higher gear than me. BTW Raptors only have 5 forward gears. They are only a 6 speed if you count reverse.
