Actually I'm almost done. I still have the details to work out such as gearing, but I have an assortment of sprockets on the way and some cosmetic stuff that will set it off. This was a fun project to do and so far I would recommend it to anybody to do. My first ride was last saturday...my first impressions were that it didn't seem all that much faster than my built 400EX. THEN, I rode my 400EX for the first time since the build began...and OMG!! What a freakin difference...this bike RIPS...and the 450 is still stock. I never want to ride the 400 again...but I do miss the E-start.

Except for the frame mods from JB Racing, I did all the other welding and all the powdercoating. So please take a look and offer any of your helpful advice and recommendations wether it be positive or negative. Hopefully the pics will come up.

13/39 is a good place to start with gearing i run this with 18inch rears and it works good

I run 20" tires for XC/GP, so I was gonna start with 12/39. I need to find a gear calculator with tire sizes.

Thanks. The shocks are PEP fronts w/ GT Thunder in the rear

DONT run lower than a 13 tooth front sproket it will dig into your cases and its too small for the 400ex/conversions because the chain slide wil be MUCH taller than the top of the sproket and with your gt thunder rear linkage your gonna find out that anything after 10inches of down travel yur chain is gonna soo loose it can derail pretty easy but when you sitting on it and the swingarm is straight itll be tight. so if you want to keep a chain on there you might want to get a different rear linkage, i run a baldwin linkage, and a 15 inch Pep Big bottle 8-click and it works amazing, with crosscountryand gp racing i think youll be fine in gp but if you get in the woods you better have a fan becasue these things overheat easily.

oh yea if you dont have one i get a TM desgins chain slide they last 10x longer than stock and the chain will be riding on the slid alot so you wear them out, i went thru 3 stock ones before i put on a TM and you can hardly tell its wearing at all

I couldn't even get my 520 chain to go around a 12 counter-sprocket. I'm running 13/44.
The quad came out real nice! MORE PIX
