I pulled a 10 ft on my nission frontier 4 clyinder motor, with 2 bikes on it. It certainly didn't like it much. I'd bet that trailer weighs close to 500lbs, ~400lb for the quad, water tanks can get very heavy, I would say no.

I loaded up a ford excape one time with 2 quads on a trailer like that. ( not shure what size but there was 2 450's on it.) A crap load of stuff in the back of the car. It dident drive bad at all, the trailer dident pull the car around hardly ever.

only thing it was low on was power! The ramp on the back I swear is a giant sail, I never did try it again with the ramp off.

you shouldnt have a problem. i pulled a 16ft trailer like that with 4 quads on it with my old 1989 toyota 4 runner 4 cyl. it did not like it, but it got it moving slowly but surely.

funny i was thinking about that my self. i bought a 2001 ford escape last saturday with the big v6 double over head cam 24 valve motor.

i don't think i would have any problem pulling my r around with it but i don't want to strain the living he!! out of it either.

Taking the ramp off the back might help a bit goin down the highway. They create a bit of wind resistance. We bought a dovetail/short ramp trailer for that reason.

hey man that is a nice trailer for the price man if i lived closer i would buy one myself. Ya, i have a little ford 150 and i pull a similar trailer easily. So I have no doubt that you could pull it

It will pull it but it isn't going to handle the hills that well. You'll probably be shifting a lot. You have to be carefull with the transmission.

i'v already figured out i gotta scratch the water tank, i can live with a dirty quad on the ride home...
but yea guys you gotta remember this isnt a typical small/mid size suv, it was made as a comuter car with light offroad abilities. If i had the V6 i would have no problem but the I-4 is a snail

if i watch the temps and watchin the shifts i think i'll be alright dunno though

Don't forget about the braking ability of the tow vehicle....

If it's an automatic, I'd be worried about burning up a transmission. Just adding an auxiliary tranny cooler can sometimes save a tranny. If you decide to tow, I'd definitely look into it. Coolers are cheap, transmissions are not. Also, just because it says you can LEGALLY tow 1500 lbs doesn't necessarily mean you should. Lack of power, poor braking performance, excessive wear/tear are a few reasons.

if three people strain to pick a trailer up then it plus a quad and your gear will prolly be too much i would highly look into the triton aluminum trailers they are best quality bar none and they are very light weiht and are perfect for small vechicles, im putting back a full bucks here and there and im gonna buy this one, its a atv88 model itll hold two atvs but you can just pull one straight on from the back if youd like, the whole trailer as you see in the picture only weighs 360 ( me and my dad looked at them in person and he got on one end and i got on the other and we could pick it up, not much, but we wouldnt even think of trying that with a steel trailer), as far as your escape handling it anyhting over a thousand pounds id put a tranny cooler on there, jsut a good rule of thumb, that if your gonna pull anything that is 3/4s your overall towing capacity its safer to put a cooler than to chance it EVEN more so in an automatic.

good thing is if you want to pull it behind say a buddies small truck or something you can put two quads on the Atv88 rather than jsut one, the loading ramp stows underneath the deck and pulls out from the back (less wind resisitance when towing is very good for small cars and such. ill be pulling one with a VW Jetta (wagon) deisel......and it has a 1500 pound towing on it :p lol 4x4 escape isnt that cute :o just messing with ya.

Sure it will pull it. May not have a lot of power and you need to use comman sense when braking (allowing more time to stop) but it should be fine. Ive seen all manner of S-10 and Rangers pull large trailers.

you should have no problem we have an old beater ranger with a 2.9 in it and we haul around a 4-wheeler and a pit bike

You guys are comparing apples and oranges with rangers and s-10s to an escape. I know, I have a 97 ranger, my gf an 02 escape, her family owns 4 escapes in nearly every option available. They have a 4cylinder 5-speed, two v6 auots and a hybrid auto. I have also driven an escape that was 4 cylinder auto (SLOOOOOW)

I will say we towed our 5x8 trailer much like that with a rancher on it, with my gf's 3.0 v6 auto escape. I wouldn't tow much more than that though, it did pull it, but you could tell it was working at it. The power loss is tremendous. She also has a K&N drop in, though that probably doesn't help anything.

Now when I pull it with my truck which is the 4.0 ohv auotmatic with larger tires, it pulls way better, though my hp is rated at 160 and hers at 200, those escape v6's love to rev, and they cant do that with a trailer attached. They just dont have the torque that a truck does.

I would say that if you do choose to pull that with your 4 cylinder escape, you are a brave man, though it will do it, that would definitely be the max I would pull.

Also, the escapes I have driven have excellent braking capabilities.

yeah excellent braking capabilities while driven alone the way it is meant to be as said before best not to go over 3/4 limit and what is the toung weight limmit that could be a problem for stearing the towing with the excape is meant for small storage trailer and stuff like that which would at max be like 750 pounds i wouldnt do it
