View Full Version : something is leaking, please take a look

Hey guys, ive been noticing this for the last month or so, and my 450 is brand new. It leaks this greenish brown liquid from a drain tube coming from the right side of the engine whenever i start it and let it warm up. I dont know if its normal or not but i dont want to take ne chances. Her are some pics. So does ne one what could be going on here? Ur help is apreciated. Thanx

You are the second person I have read about with a new 07 450R with a bad mechanical water pump seal. Bring it back to the dealer.

Yeah, looks like the water seal. Bring it back to the dealer if you just bought it and have them take a look.

thanx guys, i decided to take it to the delaership. Hopefully they fix it for me. The guy though seemd kind of an *** but i hope it gets fixed.

its normal.. as long as it doesnt gush out ur good... its the normal drip.. i have seen many brand new out the crate 06 450r do the same as mine does aswell..

no need for dealer check up.finish breaking it in buddy

my '07 does it too! i think somebody had a thread explaining why it did this somewhere on here, but not for sure where.

I wouldn't consider that leaking "normal." Doesn't seem right to me.

That was me. My '07 started leaking on it's first short run down the street. I took it back to the dealer immediately, it's covered under warranty. It is not NORMAL and it shouldn't do this. I've installed plenty of the same mechanical type seals in my 250R motors and they do NOT require time to seat in or break in. This is a FAULTY seal.
