alright i have a 330r with a 38mm a/s carb i finished up my break in on the motor, now it seems like the bike really doesnt move til 4th gear, you just go threw the first 3 gears and it doesnt seem like it hits the power band at all, i checked the plug and it was brown, not wet, im also running stock gearing on 18" tires, so is my gearing off, or my jetting off.... btw my brother has a banshee and he walked me bad

stock gearing and 18's are for pulling out tree stumps. Switch the rear rubber to 20's or use a 14T front sproket with your 18's.

theres def something wrong. if you have a 330R with very good porting, you should not get walked all over from a shee.

playing your your gears try 14-39 and 13-39.. there my favorite.. monkey with the jetting after.. also what pipe are you running?

mods to the motor are LRD big bore pipe, ct racing 330 kit, kehin 38mm a/s carb, running the stock gearing 13/39 with 18" holeshots, i run yamalube 32:1 with 110 gas

so going to a 14t will make my gearing longer right, just use to my bmx bike, which on the small sproket going up a tooth will make it shorter gearing

sounds like your dome might be just a regular pump gas.. check what cc it is

Seems like it would be a lot easier to just compression test it.

And I would definitely change your gearing.

yeah I had 18" tires on my bike and i had to launch in 3rd gear just to get some speed out the hole.

20" tires will make a world of difference, gearing too

I find nothing wrong with 13/14 - 39 gearing... check out your compression..with that kind of setup you should be anywhere from 175 - 190 psi

To everyone that has given advice so far, what are you people smoking?

Your power doesn't depend on your gears at all. The piston, camshaft, pipe, and carb don't know what gear you are in, they only know RPM and throttle position. They go through the same motion regardless if you are in 1st gear or 4th. If you can hit your powerband in 4th gear, you should also be able to hit it in 1st gear. If you can't, something is really wrong with your transmission.

If it doesn't rev out in 1st gear, no amount if tire sizes or sprocket changes will fix the problem.

Try it again in 1st gear only. Do NOT shift, just let it rev out. (It won't hurt the motor unless you run like that for several minutes). Does it hit the powerband? Does it stutter or stumble? Describe the problem in terms of throttle position and RPM, not the gears.

compression is 175

it just feels like there is no top end i have lots of power down low in the gear but there is no feel of the power band kick like my brothers banshee it doesnt stumble or sputter , so thoughts.... i think im going to get a 14t gear and see what that feels like

If ur compression is 175, then 110 octane is too high .... with 175, i'd run premium pump gas

I'm no guru but I don't think his problem is related to gearing either. My buddy has a 350pv, stock gearing, and 18s and it will flat rip in any gear.

What kind of Ignition are u runnin?

ignition i believe is stock, coil is stock too maybe... thought about uping to a jansen coil and the cr ignition, im still going to switch the front to a 14t and fatten up the main jet and see what happens, it runs really good just cant figure out if its dying on the upper end or its running out of gear in a split second..
