1998-2003 vs. 2004-2007

hey i was just wondering how the gearing changes in '04 affected the 400ex's and i was wondering how it compares to a 1998-2003 400 in a drag race, etc. thanks

They are about even. Honda changed the gearing in the new ones but also changed the sprockets so everything basicaly evens out.

a well honda did not make the 400 till 1999, and no gearing changes were made till 2005 so your dates are a year off.


but from my experience, the 2005+ are slightly faster than the older ones but it is not a huge difference

Yes the dates are a year off. I have an 04 and it came stock with a 15t front sprocket...and no reverse:(
