450/250R shifter, owners of both please read

i need to know how interchangeable the shift levers of a 250R and a 450R are. length similar splines the same, which ones longer. thanks

The splines are a little different but it will bolt right up. The 250R shifter is approx a half inch longer. I replaced a my old 250R shifter which the previous ownder cut and welded about a half inch back and it was the same length.
