I was out riding for about 5 hours today and when I got back I noticed that the left rear hub nut was loose. It has a cotter pin on it so it cant fully loosen but I was wondering if it is normal for those to periodically come loose?

Mine have came loose before, a thing to check to see if the bearings are bad in them. If they are good then just put some red loctite on and it should be good

hope this helps!

There are no bearings:huh

Yes its very common. Take them off and regrease the hub and axle contact areas, then put it back on, torque down the hub nut and reinstall a new cotter pin.

yes,it is comman.I cleaned the splines, and installed red loc-tite on the splines of the axle and threads of the axle thentorqued it down tight.

Why would u put loc-tite on the axle splines?
They are supposed to be greased

Because,i have had thing happen to me before, and the splines get some wear inbetween them from the lock nut being loose.I found that loc-tite tightens up the spline play.I haven't had it com loose again.(and yes u can get it off easily with a impact gun)

Yeah, mine always seem to shake loose after a few rides. Just use an airgun but dont overtighten it.
