They're different length. 85-86 ATC and 86 TRX are the same, 87-89 link is shorter. There is a difference in shock length also. All of the parts do interchange, but it does affect ride height when you mix them.

HEY, thanks
i dont kno what i need than a longer link? or a longer dog bone? or both?

i have a 89 trx250r frame with a axis rear shock and laegers swingarm that came off my 86-87 frame it should fit right???
what is goin on is when i put the shock on from the top first it seems the dog bone is like 1/2 to 1" too small... and if i put the link and dog bone on first the top of the shock is over the top shock mount by like 1/2 to 1"... it just seems i can just push the shock down and put it in the spot for the mount lol but that shock will not push down...
so what do i have to do???? PLEASE HELP THATS THE ONLY THING STOPING THIS QUAD FROM BEING 100% DONE...!!!
thanks..

85 ATC is the same length as 86 ATC and TRX but will not interchange without mods. The lower link bushing is smaller and a smaller dia. grease bolt is needed on the 85 parts. I have an 85 ATC aluminum dogbone that I modified to work on the 86 parts, it bolts right up and is just sitting if someone wants it. $25

The bolt's on the 1985-1985 are just a hair thinner as well as the holes for the dogbone compared to the 1987-1989 linkage.

When you go to mount it .. pull the bottom of the shock towards you saying your behind the quad.. when you pull it to you draw the linkage up and keep going up until the dogbone slides into the shock and the linkage slides on the side of the shock..

You should be able to mount it.. Whether the linkage is a little short or little longer it should still mount. If the bolt doesn't slide in then it is the wider bolt. (87-89)
