very dirty!!!!

i dont run with my air box lid on, and om my last few rides this is what my air box has looked like. granted it has been wet around here for a while. even my intake has dirt in it. is this common? in case it is important i use a k&n air filter.

I'm pretty sure K&N filters are supposed to pass dirt. I've never seen one give a clean intake tract after a ride. A way out is to use a UNI prefilter, but then why not just use a (vastly superior!) UNI filter and cut the junk. As for the lake in your intake box, that's really not avoidable. Given the situations you ride in, I would slap that cover back on. I made a lid that had a filtered vent, and it still passed way too much dirt for my liking in one ride. Never again.

was that pic taken after u hosed your quad down? cause more than likely thats water from when u were cleaning your bike. i always put my cover back on before i wash my quad because if i dont i know it will be a lake in there.

yes it was after. this time i did forget to use my lid, but if i had my lid on the results would have been almost the same. once i remembered i didnt have it i quit .
