Round #4 of the GNCC Can Am series rolled into Union South Carolina this weekend. 80 Youth entries were signed up for the saturday morning race and the talent pool in this event just keeps growing!

The 8 am start time had the first mini quad fired up at around 6:30 AM which was soon followed by a chorus of young riders getting the day started as the sun broke out over the starting line.

Cody Hill was ready to try once again to put his stock DRR up against some of the wildest and well built 90cc quads in the nation.

Dylan Bradford has been on a tear during the past 2 rounds, claiming both overall wins aboard his finely tuned Cobra. This course would suit him well as wide open field sections and woods courses wide enough for a small truck to drive on awaited him and the others over the 6+ mile course!

Jesi Stracham would be the first rider onto the course as Dylan Bradford went a little to wide and got hung up on stumps and logs bordering the course. Jesi's day ended on the first lap as she recorded a DNF for this round due to mechanical issues.

From my spot, all I could tell is that there was a big bottleneck. The ones fortunate enough to get out of it were off and running!

As the last rider hit the track, I turned as I could hear the sound of 79 riders attacking the terrain as this event was under way. Ofcourse I couldnt see them due to the very dusty conditions!

Watching the action through my lens can get more confusing then a puppy with two tails to chase. It is the best spot in the house however and I never will get enough of watching these guys shine!

With such a long and spread out course, it was difficult to get away from the open areas during the hour long event.

Merrit was about to get passed by Hill as a group of riders works through the last field section before the scoring area. Cody's plan was to try and hook up with Riley and let it play out, knowing that Kyle and him ride well together. Going into the last lap he had his eye on Riley and was going to do anything he could to try and hook up with him for the last lap charge to the checkered flag

It was an all Cobra podium as Bradford, Parr and Riley took the top 3 spots. I have to thank whoever took the podium shots as I was called to attend to my son before I could get to the podium.

Congrats to all the riders, you are all winners in my book!

As for Cody Hill, he is taking the day and resting after a hard crash on the last lap that left him with a concussion and a fractured right elbow. He said he made some passes and as he worked through the last field section by the track entrance, he saw Riley go over the crest of a hill and he just hammered it for everything he had to try and catch him or atleast close the gap before they entered the woods. The last down hill before a turn is where he clipped a kicker and thats all he remembers.

He said that if I can get him a quad ready he will be on the line at Loretta's! He was running good and making time so the wreck was indeed unfortunate. He is tough and will bounce back!

Special thanks to Big John and the rest of the track personel for taking good care of him.

Glad to hear Cody is doing alright and can't wait to get back out there. I hope his injuries heal up soon and he can be on the line at the next round.

He's a tough one that's for sure. After seeing his chest protector, goggles, and helmet you knew he went down hard, but he kept it together like a trooper!
