Put a new clutch lever on and noticed that when I pull the lever back I can't move the rear wheels when it is in gear. Is this normal? BTW it only does this if it is not running. When the quad is running it seems to be ok.I thought that if I pulled the lever back it would act as if it was in neutral.

Its totally normal. When the motor is running, there are vibrations and such that spread the clutch plates apart.

Nothing to worry about.

Is the free play adjusted correctly? Sounds like there is too much.

Should I be able to touch my grip when I pull it all the way back?

Yes, but at what point does the lever actually start pulling the other end, right away. Look at the other end of the cable( on the engine), how much is that lever moving? Read this thread (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=293975)

Yeah, it doesn't move much. I'll try adjusting from there. Thanks for all the info!

I would adjust it so there is no free play at all, then test it. And after adjust it to specs. I adjust where there is hardly any play at all, but make sure there is some. Because with no play, your clutch is going to wear out fast.
