Any ideas on removing stripped allen bolts? for example the ones that hold the footpegs on?Not that I just stripped two out of the four bolts on my pegs or anything, only a complete idiot would do that........

i took a saw and cut a line in the bolt and then just used a flat head screw driver

That is my favorite method. If that doesn't work, I grind two opposite sides of the head (what you can get to) until they are pretty flat and then put channel locks or vice grips on it. Good luck.

Decided to take mine out of the 400ex today and put more anti-seize on them. Mine are a pain because I can only get to one on each side with a special 8mm allen that is cut down. I only get 1/4 turn before I have to move the allen wrench again. My footpegs are aftermarket and really low. Anyone who has seen my 450r knows what I mean...the top of my pegs are only about 1/4" higher than the bolt head.

Here is the best investment I made for all those stipped scews and bolts. You can get them at sears and snap-on

the ones on the top are splined bolt extractors and the ones on the bottom are splined screw extractors

If you think trying to take 1 stripped allen bolt out was a pain , last weel I had the brilliant idea that I was going to take the skid plates off my Grizzly . 10 allen bolts ... every one of them stripped and seized . :grr:

It took over 3 hours with a lot of WD-40 and a chisel to get them out . I couldn't lock on with wise grips cause of the way the skid plates are made , couldn't get in to cut them ... not enough room , and I didn't have a torch to heat them .

A lot of cursing , a bit of sweating and they finally came out.

If you would have had these tools I listed it would have been no effort at all.
