Help...stripped allen bolts

ALL I wanted to do is put new pegs on my 400 and I managed to strip 2 of the allen bolts.I called it quits for the night before I wrecked the other 2.Any ideas on getting them off? Thanks,Mat

Were you using the right size?

Try to pound another size standard allen into it. If you get it out, then replace it.

Or grind 2 flat sides on the bolt and take it out with a wrench.

Yeah it was the right size,nice snug fit but the allen wrench was a little rounded off,not bad though.thanks for the ideas.

another option if your not handy with the grinder...take a hacksaw and cut a slot in across the top and then use a screw driver

I stripped one of the allen bolts for the side panels on mine ... just take a drill and drill out the bolt. Just make sure to not use too big of a bit so that you don't enlarge the original hole. Otherwise, as someone else said, take a hammer and punch in the next larger size allen wrench.

use vise grips. it works on most stripped bolts. you dont have to have flat sides to do it either

those 4 bolts suck to take out!!! i took mine out after 6 years of having them basicly had to have my friend heat the frame up till it was glowing red, and one of them was stripped he just welded a hex head in it and took it out that way

I finnally got those F#%^%g bolts out, THAT SUCKED!!By any chance do any of you guys have ONE of those bolts out there for a fellow 400 lover?I looked at my local hardware store and couldn't find em Thanks, mat

i was trying to find some the other day and found some at a bolt store here. i was not able to find the allen head but found some metric head ones that worked great. i will be more than happy to send you one but it is the short ones in the front. if that will work then let me know and i will send it out

nevermind ,I found em at a local machine shop finally, thanks for the help guys..Repoman thank you anyhow,much appreciated:)
