What does a gusset mean or what is a frame gusset

im curious as to what this is because i here it alot

pieces are welded in known weak spots, to help strengthen up the frame

Its when you add metal to the frame were its pretty weak.. So it really just gives the frame strenght so it dosn't crack or break
