I just installed a 41mm Fcr carb and I have a very slight dead spot right off idle where it will stutter for a second. It doesn't do it all the time every now and then. I was wondering if the quick shots actually work? I am running a 48 pilot jet do you think I need to adjust the accelerator pump or is this just something common they are known for. Any info would be great Thanks, Alan

it is common on the fcr carb...put int a 42 leak jet and it will go away

My FCR is real weird too.. I have a 188 main jet, 48 pilot, 55 acc pump jet.. Mine doesn't really stumble, but when I get into it real hard, the power of the motor hesitates for a sec or two.. then BAM! It hits so hard like a 2-stroke does.. Real weird.. Lol! I check the plug after and still looks a tad lean?

Im gonna call Baldwin since its his motor and carb and see what he recommends to run.

Im gonna try the Quick Shot as well though

I Have A Quickshot On My 06' And It Seamed To Fix My Just Off Idle Bog. There Is No Studder Now.

The bog can be fixed with some tweaking. No need to buy an aftermarket cover. Read all of the accelerator pump info on Thumpertalk.com.

I have the Quickshot and I'm not sure it made that much of a difference. I spent quite a bit to get everything for the carb and together it runs good. TMS I called Baldwin and am running what he told me and it runs good.

However I think the best way to go is to send the carb to Tokyo Mods for their rebuild and modifications they do. I have read nothing but great things about them. Plus they told me they modify the stock Acc. pump cover to work better then the Boyesen. I plan on sending mine this winter...

or you can do as i said and buy an $8 leak jet and get the same results...

Did that, and yes it gets rid of the bog, but Tokyo Mods does extensive mods to the carb and they run perfect.

if i member right every one says that the leak jet is backwards of a regular jet the smaller the number the bigger the jet

just what ive heard

You need to adjust the timing and duration of the accelerator pump squirt. Blindly changing leak jets isn't gonna fix your problem unless your really lucky.

The smaller the number the smaller the jet. The bigger the number the bigger the jet.

What makes leak jets different than most other jets is smaller leak jets produce richer mixtures. That's the part that's "backwards".

I Forgot To Mention That When I Did This I Also Installed My HRC Kit And Adjusted The Accelerator Pump To The HRC Kit Specs. Is There A Better Setting For The Pump Or Is It Good Where Its At w/The HRC Specs?

So is changing the leak jet going to fix my off idle bog:confused:
I ordered a 40 leak jet today but now I am confused with so many different opinions.

from experience yes...unless you are a great racer adn very in tune with you bike, you will no longer notice the bog...
