sounds like your idle screw is broke.

One time I took the carb off to jet and then put it back on and when I spun the carb it twisted the throttle cable making it shorter so it held the throttle open. What I did was disconnect the line from the carb and then push the throttle and the line spun. Hope this helps.

so i would have to order a new idle screw because it worked fine right when before i jetted it. could i need a higher pilot screw like a 42 instead of the 40 in there? and my throttle isnt twisted but good thinkin and could it be like one of the vents that connect to the carb.?

It would'nt hurt to check if the throttle cable is twisted but the way you put it sounds to me like your idle screw broke.

does the housing of the idle screw move with it when you try to turn it?

Sounds like the throttle cable is not routed right

ruby soho yes when i turn the screw everything turns with it um im pretty sure i connected everything right, i ran the quad down the street though i couldnt hold in the clutch cause it was revving the whole engine too much and there basically was no first gear cause the idle was the whole thing but ruby soho to answer your question its a yes which was unusual about it now can you help me?

mine is like that too, so what u do is get some needle nose pliers (sp) and on the other side use them to turn the little peice at the end of the idle screw housing that goes into the carb, that the screw would turn, but since its stuck it doesnt.

alright so ill go try that cause it does seem like thats what should happen the part of the idle screw that goes in the carb does look like it needs to be turned in. i had to give it a rest because my headers get hot real easy and my heat sheat fell off and i lost the screws to it, and i was wondering if anyone knew what the size of the screws that go for the heatr sheild were so i can go buy two? thanks and ruby soho ill keep in touch if your solution works thanks for the help
