The stock clutch basket and gear a riveted together. They can be seperated by carefully grinding the head of the rivet off and pushing them out.

I'm also installing a PE clutch basket on my 86, what gear do I have to grind on to make the basket fit? I'm confused on this issue. thx

no no no
I've read another post saying that you have to grind on the crank gear (or something) in order to clear the basket on the 86 model. I want someone to elaborate on that for me.

Just curious if this applies to the PE basket as well...everything seems to fit fine when I put the basket on the bike but I want to make sure before I put the cover back on and start it up. thx
