When looking at the back of the taillight which terminals are running light, brake light, and ground. A diagram would be nice. I'm trying to install a brakelight on a 2003 ex .
any info would be appreciated.
i have a brake light switch on order from dennis kirk and want to know how to wire it up. Thanks

The stock taillight on the 99-04 400ex uses a single fillament bulb (two wires). You'll either need to change the socket out to a dual fillament bulb style, add a second blub to what's already in there, or change out the whole taillight assemply to somthing different. There is a way to wire up a single fillament bulb to operate as a taillight and a brake light using an inline resistor, but I don't know much about how to do that.

Are you getting switches for the front and rear levers? What kind of switches?

I added a newer Honda LED brake light with hydraulic banjo bolt switches. I'll try to find which terminal is which but don't get your hopes up, i'm not sure where my notes are:p

did any of you even read my question? Because nobody answered it , just told me stuff I already know. i am installing a 450r taillight on an 03 400 ex. That is why I am also installing a brake light switch! i know it is single filament stock. Just want to know what terminals on thr 450r light go where Brake, running and ground.

Easy there....without 450r mentioned in the message body it's easy to misinterpret the question. Jeez.

On a 04/05 450r the green/yellow wire is for the brake light switch. I believe the green is ground and the brown is hot. 06/07 might be different--not sure.

Thanks Gp for answering the question, I don't mean to get excited but it is frustrating when a thread goes in a different direction then you are looking for. My apologies to all

Lets try this again a different way.
I am getting a 450r led taillight off a 2007. i will be installing a brake light switch. If you take the 450r brake light off the quad and have the side (backside of the taillight) where the terminal plugs into the back of the light. There will be three little wire terminals staring you in the face . From left to right what order do the terminals go in. ex. what is ground , what is tail, what is stop. Thanks

No worries. :)

From left to right, I think it is brake, ground, tail. Not 100% sure though.
