I haven't seen another 450 on a trail yet. And there are no good racing areas around here.

i raced one last weekend at sand mountain in utah. i went to the dealer a couple days before and rode one and it felt way slow to me. very disapointed. then when i was at the mountain i saw one sittin there so i waited for him to take off and went after him. he was atleast 20 yards ahead of me and i passed him at about half way up the hill and kept pulling away. my bike is a honda 450 with a cam and piston and porting, but its more of an mx build so its not too fast up the hill. not sure if this does anything for you, but just what i saw. oh and he had his baffle out so not sure if he had anything done to it. he was running alot better paddles than me also.

i was told by several people that they watched a stock 03 660 raptor beat the kfx multiple times through the gears, and laughed at it on top end, and my buddy on an 06 stock yfz played with it, they were saying that the top speed was actually slower than the ltr's

Well, I can vouch that at our first XC race here in Iowa, the 3 KFX's in the stock class were 1,2,3 in the holeshot, and pretty much led the whole race by a substantial margin.

Yep, I noticed that also, they were pulling holeshots like nothing. Wait till it isnt so muddy, they should do extremely well.

Also read the thread "killing me". Thats where everyone was posting their outcomes of racing against other 450's.

The KFX450r is 69.8 MPH on the GPS and thats it. Its not fast but its quick on the track or trail. I am in the works for a sprocket fix for the rear since the fron is too close to throw my 15 tooth back on.
