Has anyone done this? I believe you can still use the 400ex carrier, brake hub, rotor, & caliper. Just need to have 250r hubs obviously. Anyone know if this is correct?

That sounds right to me, it's just the hub splines that are different :)

I thought the splines were the same but the hubs are different offsets!?

I know for a fact that the axle is thicker where the splines are on a 250r then they r on a 400ex. Therefore the hubs will not even fit on the axle. Just wasnt sure of the rest of the components.

nacsmxer is right they are completly interchangable other than the hubs being diffrent. and yes your correct the about the 250r one being thicker

sorry to steal your thread "OnTheEdge", but is a 250r axle wider or somthing?

I don't think so, the 250r axle is in theory stronger due to the extra thickness in the spline area. Only advantage I know of.

no, a 250r LSR antifade wouldnt fit my 400ex LSR carrier and LSR axle, you have to change all of it to 250r setup roter, caliper, axle, carrier, maybe more, im tired lol

400ex, 250r, 86 atc 250r carriers will all interchange.

Yes the stock 250R axle is wider, however the hubs are narrower, making them about the same width.

The 400ex uses narrower axle and wider hubs.

my lsr 250r antifade/roter wouldnt work with my stock caliper because of the roter being smaller

So it looks like to do the swap; you need 250r hubs, rotor, caliper, brake hub, and axle nut. So unless you get a deal on all that, assuming the axles gonna be roughly the same price for either machine, you have to wonder if the little extra strength is worth it. Gonna be a matter of opinion I suppose.

Is this correct? I thought you just needed the wheel hubs and different locknut over the 400ex???????
