on a 1994 SUZUKI lt80r the oil gas mixing pump has played out any guesses on the mixture or at least a good starting point.
THANKS in advance

i use 32:1. never let me down and its proven to be a great mix period. alot of guys run 50:1 but that is waaay to lean for me

Just kinda depends on where it has been running really... Different oils call for different mix ratios as well. Like Bel-Ray Synthetic is supposed to be mixed much leaner then say Yamalube is. My dad has run his banshee at 24:1 for several years now... Never had to rebuild it, never fouled a plug. It smokes if you putz around or if its cold but thats just the nature of a 2 stroke.

Don't mix crappy oils at lean rates.

I run Dominator at 50:1 through the R, but an LT80 isn't really a performance oriented machine - 32:1 will be fine.

Another thing to bear in mind is small bore, high reving (high performance) two strokes generally call for more oil than larger, slower reving varieties.

For example, a CR80 might call for 28:1; a CR250 might be equally protected with 36:1; a CR500 might be equally protected with 44:1.

So in addition to the quality of the oil making a difference, the engine itself matters too.

I suppose that's really more of an general information tidbit though. As alluded to, the LT80 is probably low performance enough as to not rev out like a small bore MX engine would.

Most oil-injection systems run pretty heavy on the oil. I beleive the oil injection mixes somewhere between 16:1 or 20:1, but that doesn't mean you have to continue with this mixture when mixing your own.

A good-quality oil will be just fine at 32:1.

What a lot of people don't realize either is running more oil in your fuel will cause a leaner fuel mixture.
