i was the one who done this. it is very simle and i like it alot. the thing i have had the most trouble with is with the kickups. i cant see to get them right. the kick up is the hardest thing to get right.

the blue circle is where i grinded off a corner so the bolt will fit. if u make ur own pegs u will see what i mean.

I think he should clarify that Medford is the Kentucky of Oregon!!! You guys got flush toilets down there yet?? Just kidding... yep, we're a bunch of good ol' boys out here riding the dunes and drinking beer (in no particular order). I had actually thought about welding a couple pegs together, but I think I'll end up just buying the billet pegs. Markynark has them on his DS 650, and they look sweet, and feel like a very big/stable platform. I'll just add those to my wish list.

You should learn how to weld.

Whats the best way to make them, bolt them together or weld them together?

10-13-2002, 08:21 AM
try a combo of both if u can

Ya thats what I was thinking, having a weld break on a landing would suck, and having a bolt break on a landing would suck, so it would probably be better to bolt them together and weld them together.

Well, a weld isn't gonna break on landing if you do half a decent job. Use a 70 series rod. The seventy means that the weld can take 70,000 pounds/square inch. Trust me on this one, I design structural steel connections for a living.

Ok, my friend Bill welds for a living so he'll know what your talking about. Holy crap 70,000 pounds for square inch, that weld isnt gonna brake anytime soon, or ever, lol. Thanx for the info man

Yeah you be puting that much pressure on the second foot peg. Remember thr first foot peg will still be mounted as it was before. But now you are welding a second peg on the back to make it wider.
You could probly get a way with two bolts and never run into problems. I'm just going to MIG weld mine with mild steel wire.

Ya, alot of the pressure will be on the original peg. Whats up with Roll charging 210 dollars for theirs?

theey are stainless, made by roll, and are shiney

The IMS pegs are cast aluminum. Not stanless steel. The would be way to heavy.

The original pegs never get cut or weld so they stay the same where most of the pressures is. The second pegs just make the peg wider not weight bearing

I RECENTLY POSTED ABOUT DOING THAT , WELL MAYBE IT WAS A MONTH OR SO AGO. SINCE THEN I WENT AHEAD AND TOOK MY OWN ADVICE AND WELDED SOME EXTRAS ON THE BACK SIDE OF MY STOCKERS. IT FEELS REAL GOOD. NO MORE PAINS IN THE ARCH OF YOUR FOOT FROM THAT SKINNY SINGLE PEG. SURE BEATS SPENDING 200 BONES. I THINK I SPENT A GRAND TOTAL OF MAYBE 2 DOLLARS IN WELDING WIRE AND GAS. GOT THE PEGS FOR FREE. I'LL POST A PIC AS SOON AS I CAN.

ANOTHER GOOD MONEY SAVER IS USING A SUBMERSIBLE PUMP HOUSING AS A REPLACEMENT CAN IF YOU HAPPEN TO RIP UP YOUR SNAZZY AFTER MARKET PIPE. I GOT THE END CAPS AND INTERNAL TUBE FROM A BIG GUN EXHAUST FOR $10 AT THE SALVAGE AND FOUND AN OLD PUMP HOUSING THAT NEEDED SOME POLISH,AND AFTER 8 DOLLARS WORTH OF PACKING I HAVE A NEW PIPE!!!

(HERE IS A PIC OF THE PIPE)
