Are free ringtone sites a joke?

I was wondering are all the free ringtone sites a joke. A friend of mine told me about www.phonezoo.com. Does anyone know if that one is free for sure? If not then if anyone knows of any free ring tone sites please list them.

Mobile17.com isnt Ive gotten like 8 ringtones from them and you can start/stop them when you want

some of them are free, but you have to go through hell to get them.

how do i get it set as the ringtone on my phone? it got sent to my phone but it saved as a sound file and i cant figure out how to get it to the ringtone list.

Never grew the balls to try it out. I always thought they would screw you over in the long run.

With mine I get them sent as a PIX message and I open the message and go to options and click on "save as ringtone"
