Dropped my bike off this morning at the local Honda stealership to have Wiseco 440 11:1 kit, stg 3 HC, jet kit, and GTT studs installed.

I'm sure theyll tell me, but what kinda break-in is involved when doing something like this?

91 octane should still be okay with just 11:1 correct?

I understand GTT studs may not be necessary for the 11:1 kit, but peace of mind is always a plus.

Will it run with a 450R/Raptor/Banshee/YFZ?

Buddy of mine has a Z400 and I pretty much have no doubt I'll spank him now.

Thanks guys. Cant wait to get 'er back. Only 10 more agonizing days!

Damn your getting ripped hardcore.... I got a Wiseco 12.5:1 440 Kit with stage 2 HotCam, heavy duty cam chain, valves adjusted, heavy duty head studs, oil and filter change, rev box, FCR carb installed and jetted, and dirt digger clutch installed for less than $400:eek2:

You should have NEVER taken it to the dealership... You live, you learn...lol

parts 650 labor 650.
rather take it to someone who knows hondas, than some hole in the wall place. the guy working on it supposedly used to work for white brothers. he installed my brothers 440 kit 3 years ago and it still runs strong.

answers to my questions? anyone?

regardless of what you paid... your question about break in.

Break it in like you plan on ridin it except turn it down a notch or two. Basically dont hold it at wide open throtle for long, dont run its guts out or get it really hot for the first few tanks of gas. If you break it in to eay it wont run to its full potential. Dont know why but thats the way it is.

Just ride the crap out of it, the proper way to break it in is to not baby it, just fly through all of the gears...try to max it out in first, then second, third fourth, then step back down to thirds and second and first...just keep going through the gears at different speeds. Remember about every 30 minutes stop and let it completely cool down, then let it completely warm up then ride it hard again, repeat 3 or four times.

One thing you don't want to do is to let it sit and idle. You'll want to start it up and blip the throttle every 5 seconds or so for about 30 seconds, then take off and ride. Basically just take it easy. No prolonged WOT for at least the first tank of gas, just to play it safe. You want to try and keep it cool.

All other break in methods are bull****. The purpouse of a break in is to let the rings seat with the cylinder, and the idea is that if you run it way too hard then it will scratch it up. But it's nonsense, because the ring seating is done within the first minute or so anyways. Think about it: if you let it sit and idle for a minute, the piston has passed through the cylinder 2000 times (1000 up, 1000 down).
