You cant play in the mud in a 2wd anyways.

First off how much money are you looking to spend?

If you are on a budget you could use your stock springs in the rear with a lift block and lift coils up front. You could look into a superlift lift (one of the better quality lifts out there besides fabtech and camburg) but I wouldn't go with their rear leafs. Way oversprung and way too stiff. I'm currently looking into doing a silverado leaf spring on my ranger. The length and heigth are similar to my lift springs now, but provide a much better ride. I just need to fab up some spring mounts. Check around online and see what you can dig up. FYI, it is better to buy a kit than try to make your own. When you get the kit, it usually includes all new hardware/brake lines/bushings. Also they usually include the drop pitman arm.

If your wondering how I know this, I have 3 lifted trucks in the family.

You can get +3 in the back by placing the axle under the leaf instead of on top like stock.

put a 350 in it, much more fun than having it lifted

why would you waste your money lifting a 2wd s10 unless you were doing a pre runner. If you want a lifted truck save your pennies and get a half ton

You can, but it puts a lot of stress on the leafs and the overload.

I dont feel like going there, but its a proven fact that 2wd sucks in the mud.

At least in the jeeping/rock crawling world, Fabtech is complete junk.

fabtech is more a truck aquired company more than jeeps. Fabtech is geared more towards high performance racing suspensions rather than a suspension that would flex to the moon. I agree for jeeps/crawling/and the price, they are not good at all.

A 2wd truck will do alright off road is you have the right gears/axles/tires/driver. Heck when I'm wheeling my truck I don't even really use 4wd unless I'm coming up on a steep climb or huge mud hole. It takes down the chances of me snapping an axle shaft. 35'' tires on a stock D28 isn't a good idea, so they'll be swapped out this summer, but a 2wd CAN go offroad.

I went mudding last weekend with a couple of friends and there was a 4x4 Dodge, 4x4 Chevy, and 2wd Chevy. The 2wd got stuck twice, and the 4x4 Chevy got stuck once, but got unstuck. Maybe a 2wd can't do all a 4x4 can do, but there isn't that much difference from what I saw last weekend.

2x4 trucks setup to run like a pre-runner are awesome! Put a locker in the rear and it will go more places than you think. If you plan on road riding only fabtech is good, but if you plan on running it at all I wouldn't waste my time. Check out dezertrangers.com they are more oriented towards rangers but there are guys on there with everything and they have a ton of knowledge.

anyways for those of you who asked its just the perfect truck i dont like the ride height, but thats why i'd be changing it gets good gas milage extended cab for a big system and i can still haul my quad i'm also looking to but some american racing outlaw 2's on it and 30-31 inch tires so that should raise it up a lil more
