View Full Version : What do I need to start racing?

Did a search and couldnt find anything... so my question is what all do I need to start racing? I have a pretty much stock 450r. Only aftermarket thing I have on it is pro taper bars. Im not new to the racing scene ive been racing dirtbikes since I was 8 but I just want to know what I need for my quad. I've been told all I need is nerf bars. is that true?

to even be legal to race, you need a tethered kill switch, and nerfs.

hey man i am trying to get into racing to..first of all you have to get a nice helmet,googles,gloves,boots,jersey,pants the whole ten yards and i have been looking into it and all you need is kill switch and nerf bars and riding equiment.

for the gear its a really good idea to get a kidney belt....really helps protect your lower back

wow they shouldnt make safety cost so much, im going to have to get one of these, id rather be safe than sorry

They make neck rolls too. Not nearly as safe as the ones posted above but alot more affordible.

What kinda racing you going to do? For XC all you need is a Kill switch

I got all the gear. I raced 2 races last year (bike) with the neck protectors and there good to have when you go down but any other time it annoyed the crap out of me. but thats just me i ride pretty loose. i dont like chest protectors over my jersey either. i use the padded under jersey kind.

im not sure what kind of racing im going to get into on my quad yet. im gunna do both mx and some harescrambles at first before i set my quad up for one of them. whatever one is more fun i guess
