Raptor 660 2nd gear

I have an 02 raptor 660,and when im riding if i get in it pretty good like i wanna wheelie or race someone it skips like the sprockets are missing teeth,but i checked both front and rear sprockets and none are missing teeth and the chain is tight.i just dont understand what else it could be.any suggestions would be appreciated.

maybe your clutch is slipping?
did that with my old 250ex

possibly missing a tooth on the 2nd gear in the tranny

Thats kinda what i was thinkin.maybe its missing a tooth inside the transmission.i hope not,but thats the only thing i can think of.and i think that because it only does it in 2nd gear and no other gear.so its prolly not the clutch i wouldnt think.but still not sure.guess i'll have to tear into it.

I know 01's had tranny issues, but I never heard anything about 02's and up. If it's only happening in 2nd I would assume it would be a transmission issue. When my clutch started slipping it was like my accel and torque got cut in half in every gear.

Yeah it doesn't really feel like im loosing any power in any other gear.It feels about the same as far as that goes.But if im cruising in 2nd gear it won't skip,but as soon as a get into it a little like racing or climbing a hill,it will skip.So i guess i'll take it apart and check it out.I appreciate the help fellas.

I have seen 02 raptor have the same tranny issues as the 01. Yours sounds like a shift fork not holding the tranny in gear under a heavy load?

My husband just went through the same thing with his '05 Raptor. A tooth broke off of 2nd gear in the tranny. It cost him about $150-$200 to fix it himself. The one gear needs pressed. Good luck.
