I will be racing this year, other then suspenion mods, whats it take to get the engine up to par with the 450s? Ive got it ported and polished, full exhaust. knn intake, and jetted perfect. but will it run with the 450s yet? or should i just sell now and get a 250r?I like to be different so theres no way ill get a 450. I need some opinions though.

You can always go with the athena 434 kit. Put on a 13t front sprocket. The Z I just built will run fair with 450s with the DRZe kit, cams, full yoshi exhaust, knn, jets, no airbox lid and dynatech cdi. It gets the holeshot practicaly evertime. It does however need the suspension to hang with them on the track.

I know a lot of people don't believe it, but 90% of how well it will compare to the others is the RIDER...not the quad. I raced an 05 Z400 stock engine, and the only performance mods were full yosh exhaust, k&n filter, and jetted. i ran a local open b class motocross race, and my very first race, against 42 other 4wheelers (all 450's except 1 400ex), i placed 3rd place overall. one thing i do reccomend doing is changing your gearing though. i was up front at the beginning of the holeshot, but once i was shifting into 4th and 5th gears is when i would get passed..cuz i had stock gearing on a 400. but i am a pretty good rider so i managed to get back up there and finish 3rd. good luck dude!

Make sure you gusset your front shock mounts if you haven't already.

mine has hotcams intake and exhaust, full lrd exhaust, k&n, wiseco 440 sleve kit, did timming chain, wiseco high comp. 12.5:1 piston. no problem with the 450s but now i have a ltr450 and the power is no comparison, like landon said dude the rider is what makes the difference.

if you got all the power and cant handle it, what good is it?

Gotta say the same here, its mostly the rider when your racing MX or XC. But the bike does have some effect. With what you have the Z should if you are as good of a rider. But I would recemend a 13t front sproket. You will lose a little top end but will gain bottom, and on a mx track you dont need to go 65 but you need to pull out of the corners and so on.
