3/4 should do the job. Just make sure you pre-drill your holes. Found that out the hard way.

3/4 should be fine. 1" is for hardcore systems which it doesn't sound like is what your going for.

i used 3/4 then fiberglassed it inside.... then fiberglassed the box inside the custom console i made- it's ported. a 8.5"L x 3" W port in the rear. 1500w rms sub and amp

Don't forget to use liquid nails before you screw together the box...its added insurance. Also fill it with some kind of packing, usually poly-fil, but if you can't find any of that just rip an old pillow and stuff it inside the box.

Evills, what kind of speaker is that? 1500watts rms is a sh*zload...!

i run i nice bead of chalking aroung the edges on the inside to get it nice and air tight. just make sure you build your box to the right cu.ft. of air space. a 250w 10in in the right air space will sound better than a 1000w 12in in the wrong air space. im assuming its going to be a square box so calculating your air space should be pretty easy.

yea it will be square. This is the FIRST box i will be building. I know about poly-fil and packing. How exactly do i figure out air-space?? i really want this to sound good

Good luck!

okay. i juts got a 10 inch JL audio sub. The box it was in was thrashed and was too big anyway. I found out the air space is supposed to be .75 cu in. , but they said that the box should be approx. L (18in) W (10.25in) H (11in).

thats WAY too big for what room i have. The biggest i can go is L (18in) W (11.25in) H (7.25in).

can i still get .75 cu in. air space out of that.

also waht size screws?

hey yeah it's a JL immortal series it's 3000w peak 1500w rms same with the amp. it's a SPL comp. sub but i use it daily with no probs. just built the box to get the right air space then built the console around it then fiberglassed it in together.

it is pretty much over kill i leave the amp turned way down unless someone want to really hear it... but it annoying loud to leave on all the time
