shifting question

i have an 04 yfz and i'm have a harding time shifting it some time it goes in to gear and some time it misses and hit netural what do u thing the problem is

mines doing it too, but ive only ridden mine a handfull of times. i'm going to try moving the kicker up and down and see what works best. thats probably all it is, i'm not pulling up hard enuff
