all depends on how you build it. I bet I have 12k into my quad and it doesent look that nice.

All depends on how you built it. If you built it all with new parts, not even 20,000 would touch it. In the day of the hybrids to have the top of the line hybrid you would be looking at 20,000 and up, yes you could build some cheaper, but going with Walsh or Laeger, to have the best your gonna pay for it. I know walsh was still taking orders for chassis's, but not sure now. You'd more than likely have to go through them for a new chasis, or hack up another frame to fit the KTM engine in it:ermm: Which im not a fan of, but thats just me.

Its not a z400 frame, but I agree, it does look like a OEM frame

The first pic posted on the topic with the girl on the hybrid is a Walsh Chassis. The absolute best money can buy. There are quite a few of them that were made( and pretty sure you can stil get them made). But for the most part nowdays most of the KTM hybrids are just conversions, the one pictured is the real deal KTM Hybrid.

i sure dont see 20 grand!

well think of it this way....

austin wilson sold his 450 production a racequad from last year for 13 grand ( or at least thats what he originally advertised it for) and that was on a stock frame but it had the best of the best on it throughout, i bet even with his sponsorship discounts he still had 20 grand into it. it adds up fast when you think about it

450R parts

Walsh Chassis $3000
walsh lt a-arms $1350
walsh swinger and linkage $1400
walsh steering stem $290
walsh pivot bolt $72
walsh fender braces $100
walsh footpegs $200
walsh gas tank washer $10
walsh bar clamp $100
walsh air boot clamp $20
walsh block off plate $20
walsh chain guide $55
walsh recovery bottle $40
PEPS ZPS PB1 fronts $2000
PEPS ZPS rear $895
Precision stabilizer $480
TEAM axle $400

thats $10,432 right there and thats not even started into an engine and no where near all of the chassis parts.... not to mention all of the little 10 parts like that gas tank washer and seat latches and nuts and bolts... then you start figuring in lightweight engine covers bearings carriers, spindles, hubs, carbon fiber rims new tires $500 worth of plastics $100 at least in graphics $90 in custom number plates few hundred for nerf bars grab bar bumper fasst flex bars controls wiring harness.... it wouldn't take long to very incredibly easily wrap up 25 grand into a full custom built quad.... one day i'm going to make an entire parts list for a full out custom and see what it costs for the hell of it.

The other thing you guys aren't seeing is, when those hybrids were at there peak, you couldn't just run over to the KTM dealer and buy a motor. You had to buy a complete bike and strip the motor and accesories from it. That adds @ $5-6k onto the price tag.

Oh man i remember. That had some really sick hyrbids.

hybrids were really cool quads. I liked it wehn 250rs and hybrids were the top dogs. now all you see is 450 this and 450 that...too boring. But i dont see how some people claim to have 20-25 grand into a quad and it isnt that impressive.
