View Full Version : How hard is it to replace a tie rod
I have a bent tie rod and i purchased a new one and am wondering how hard they are to change out.
they are not hard to change, just getting them set right is kind of tricky.
looking at them is pretty self explanantory on how to change them...
Loosen the lock nuts that are on the tie rod, and then turn the tie rod until it is free from the tie rod end. Just remember one side will be reverse thread.

and dont forget to count how many turns to unscrew the rod....installion would be in reverse.

It's really easy, I usually stand mine up when I do it,
I was thinking i could just count the threads that are still showing and screw the new one in until that many are showing again.

That should get you in the ballpark but you may still have to do some measuring and adjust the tie rods to get it spot on.
