octane question

what are the pro's or con's to running higher octane(100) fuel in a stock viper 50? the reason i ask is that lately i've got in the habit of topping my sons' tank off when i'm filling my tank up. thanks

aside from the obvious expense, higher octane actually has slightly less energy per lb- on the order of barely a percent. Also, and probably most significantly, high octane has a slower burn rate. too much octane and you're motor will actually start to run crappy since strictly speaking 'octane' is a measure of a fuel's resistance to (auto)ignition. unless you're running 110+, i wouldnt sweat it.
