KTM hybrid

so im putting a ktm520sx motor in my ex chassy. i have to do some work with the frame yet and swing arm but i was wondering if anyone has any tips about the ktm's that i may want to know.

i will be getting some stuff back from being pc next week and will put the motor in also next week. i will be painting the frame so i can see any cracks as soon as possible. i will post pics as i gane progress. im hoping it turns out to be a nice hybrid!!!! cant wait to get it together

I am going to have a big hand in fabricating and welding everything to do this ktm 520 swap, and can't wait for the thing to arrive so me and dietz can put our thinking caps on and hopefully get this thing installed without too many huge obstacles. I know it's not going to be easy, but anything is possible if you set your mind to it. And come on..he got the thing for under 850 bucks, so for that price we can make it work. Engine should be here next week sometime, so stay tuned for updates!!! This thing is gonna haul the freakin mail!! I just really wish I had a tig welder..

Talk to X-tech here or you can find him on ********.com. He built a sweet KTM hybrid that I am trying to purchase up from him, but his was built in an Arens R frame. He should be able to give some solid advice on both the chassis and the motor. He's a real great guy and has great products too. Check out his website at www.teixeiratech.com. Don't forget bout trying to keep this thing cool. Larger radiator and an oil cooler will help. Check out this link.

That thing should be crazy fast stockBUT if you think you need more,go with a cam from the supermoto;) That'll give you crazy top end.Or if its torque your looking for,try the exc cam from the 450 or 525 they all work from the 250rfs on up i believe.My 450sx is just plain ignorant up top,it pulls like nobodys business:D

here is my KTM hybrid I built it 3yrs ago. It is a Laeger narrow frame w/ protrax t-pin front end and the cr500 rear link w/ pep zps all around. It performs awesome.

Hey man can you shoot me some pics of your Laeger KTM without plastic or tank? I'd like to see how you did the rear shocks upper mount gussets where the carb goes. I have some space issues fitting a stock carb on my YZ Laeger 250R conversion frame.

Hey Dietz it is nice to see these quads still being built. Looks like you are getting yours done!! Awesome!! That was a picture of my 525exc KTM Quad.

Racerx, I didn't have to do anything to the rear shock mount because on the cr500 rear link set up on the Laeger it is off set to the right a little if you are looking at it from the rear. I don't know if yours is that way. I built an aluminium airbox for a 250r set up to use the 400ex boot and filter. I will try and get some pics of it later today.

Yeah mine is offset. How close is your carb to the tank. The KTM engine looks a little narrower from the side than the YZ, so I don't have much room to work with.
