Intake mod

Has anyone took the whole airbox out and put a k&n directly on the carb? I've seen a couple of people do it but never on a 400. Does anyone know what size k&n to get and is it worth it?

i think if you rode in sand only and no dust, it would be ok. the box keeps a majority of the dust away from the filter.
