hey has anyone tried any high octane fuel in their 525 yet? I'm trying some 110 octane this weekend at the sand dunes. I was just curious if there really is any benifit to running a higher octane fuel.

No.........unless you have a high compression engine build.

High octane fuel burns SLOWER than low octane fuel. That is the purpose of the higher octane.

If you are looking for better performance out of your 525, get a JD jet kit. The quad comes with some really lean jetting from the factory.

Also the o-ring trick with the accelerator pump helps the low and midrange power hit.

Do not waste your money!!! Just as Outlaw50 said, it is only for high compression, race built motors, hence the name race gas.... The 525 does have a pretty high strung motor but it was designed to run on pump gas, premium at that, but not octane of 100+. I would say that 93 octane pump gas is the max you need to run to get the full performance out of the motor, anyhting else and you may as well pour some out on the ground because that is where the money is going. If you want, I will send you my address and you can just send me the extra cash if you really feel the need to spend it!:D

the 525 actually responds very well to high octane due to the stock jets in it. running 100ll av gas in it now and the low end grunt is definately noticeable. runs way too rich with the jd jet kit installed. leaded gas runs cooler than unleaded too

I wonder what mine will do. I jetted the pilot up to a 87.5 (86 stock) and a 152 main (148 stock) needle in the stock position. 1000 ft up.

I would much rather spend the money on the JD jet kit instead of the race gas. It is going to be much cheaper in the long run with the kit!
