Hi all,

There is a little nob on the on/off switch for my 400ex. I am trying to install the new renthals but they do not have a hole for this little nob to fit into. Do I just cut this off?

Thanks,

~Jason

I drilled a hole for the nob. If you cut the nob off the swith will slide, the little hole doesn't weaken the bars in any way. that's been my experience .

I just cut it off. I wouldn't drill a hole in your new bars. I just tightened the switch up and have not had a problem

I wouldn't drill a hole in aluminum handle bars cause you take the risk of them cracking or worse breaking.

I took the nob off too. I just wrapped some electrical tape around the bars where the switch goes. It will move a tiny bit, but nothing really noticable.

I put some grip glue on mine. It doesn't move, but if I need it to come off, it comes off really easy. Drilling a hole in the aluminum will eventually propogate a crack (the engineer in me talking). With the constant vibration and other hits that your bars take, they will eventually weaken, which could cause your spendy new handlebars to bend on that side even in a minor wreck. It's kinda like playing Russian Roulette. Odds are they won't bend or break, but at $70 (or more) apiece, I'm going with the "nipple removal" and grip glue.

I shaved off my nipple too..:huh I'd be leary of drilling the bars,,,I've seen renthals snap like twigs from landing jumps,,,having a hole in there would make me nervous pervous..

i took mine off to i think taking it off is better that way if u flip the starter control will rotate and not break.

I cut mine also, and I just put a lil peice of rubber band under the plastic, it doesnt move at all, but when you flip it moves so it doesnt break.
