I just replaced oil in my 400ex today and road it up the road and back. When i got back i checked the oil level and when i pulled the dipstick, there was thousands of little air bubbles in the oil. Is this normal, or is there a problem? The oil brand is gn4 if that matters.

you might have water in your oil. water usly does bubbles wen it gets mixed up with oil.

bubbles are fine, usually they will disappear after a little bit. IF you have contaminate like water in your oil it will usually turn into a white milky substance, not bubbles. Usually the bubbles are just from air in the lines and such from getting pumped back though the system.

This is normal after a bit when the oil is hot. It happens to mine all the time. Some one at Auto Zone said that when he drags his motorcycle that is supposed to take 10w40, he has found that another weight oil works better. He pointed it out the oil to me but I forgot the weight, something like a 10w50 or something. I do remember it was not made for wet clutches though.

Does anyone use another weight oil to cure this problem of bubbling... or is it not that big of a deal.

I am pretty sure it's not a big problem because mine does it and it sounds like many others do it too.

Mine does it too. I think it comes from the oil hitting moving parts, like the crank and whatnot, i dont think it should much to worry about tho..

I run KLOTZ MX4 10W40 and don't worry that is perfectly normal. especially after an oil change. You should worry if the bubbles have water in them or are cloudy.
