Ok, so Im rebulding the ol girl from the piston up. Should I use assebly lube on all the components ( piston, sleeve, cam) or should I just use a lot of oil when I assemble it? Thanks. Or should I use oil on some things, and lube on others?

Assembly lube.

It is more tacky, and will give you a better lubrication on your "dry" startup. It also helps to keep stuff from oxidizing while it's exposed. ;)

agreed

although i have heard an old myth about certain assembly lubes leaving coarse gunky residue although i do not remeber which kind(s) im sure its just a certain ingredient if this was found to be true

Should I put assembly lube on everything? How much do I place, ( finger tip, or fully coat)?

Apply it like you would chapstick when your lips are really chapped. ;)

Just a nice even coating.

I would use assm. lube on the valve train and just use oil on the cylinder wall. You dont need anything on the piston as its not going to rust or corrode.

True.

I put my piston in dry. Used a good amount of assembly lube on the wristpin though.

Yeah, basically use the assembly lube on everything except you cylinder wall, and piston itself.

don't use it on the cylinder or skirt like everyone said. use light oil, wd-40, or atf. be careful of what kind of assembly lube you use some have a lot of moly in it and can make the clutch slip once it dissolves into the oil.

good point on the moly.
