Will stock 250r a-arms help widen the 400 out at all with 450r shocks on them?

yes they will, but make sure you get the 88 or 89 a arms. the 86 and 87 a arms have bigger bushings where they mount to the frame. the 88-89 ones fit right on

So is this a better alternative to buying cheap aftermarket a-ams?
Will you need +2 hoses and tie-rods?

You can probly just use the R tierods.
Can you use 400 spindles? And how do the shock mounts line up?

2 inches per side or 2 inches total?

about 2 inches total im guessing. the shock mounts line up just like factory a arms. and i would recommend using longer tie rods and lines, i found some +2 ones in my buddys garage that he bent up and i straightened em up. as for brake lines, i didnt use longer lines but i probably need to:D
