Racing a dirt bike...

I am going to race my friend on his 1998 Yamaha yz400 I believe. In a drag, how much faster will he be?

You'll probably get beat. I raced my buddies '03 YZ250F and we stayed side by side till I shifted into 5th.

I have raced a few dirtbikes, I can get by the 250 4 strokes and a few 125/250 2 strokes but your at a power to weight dissadvantage.
I have also looked pretty stupid vs a cr250 and a crf450

your only chance is if your pretty good and he isnt (rider skill)
