I have an 04'TRX450r and i need to do an oil change. So i go to a cycle shop and tell them i need transmission oil for my quad (i give them the make, model, ect.) and they give me PRO HONDA HP TRANS OIL which is SAE 80W/85W. Now the back of the bottle says it (is formulated for use in 2-stroke transmissions only). Does anybody use this? If not what should i be using?
Thanks,
Mike

Huh...............that's not the right oil for your engine! Take that back and tell the idiots that you need engine crankcase oil for the trx450.

Better watch out for the people at that shop.If they gave you that for your 450r they aren't too swift.

The honda HP tranny oil is fine in the transmission on a 450r. Many, many people run it. It even states you can use it in the manual.

There are 2 different oils used in the 450r. The regular kind for the crankcase side of things. And the heavy stuff for the trans side.

What they gave you should work fine.

that stuff works fine, but you can also run the same stuff in the tranny that you run in the engine side as well. i run klotz mx4 on both sides now, it says in the manual that it's fine to do that as well.
