still trying to stop my excesive ticking noise so i decided to remove my tensioner how do these things work ?? i was expecting to see a large coiled spring but instead i got a square plug with no movement in it at all plus some muppet has tampered with the bolts that secure the tensioner in place so i now have another fix to contend

you have to get that phillips head cover off the tensioner. it will be tight! you have to put the tensioner mount plate in a vice and use a screwdriver with vice grips attached to it to turn the phillips head out. once you do that, you will need a very small flat blade screwdriver. turn it clockwise until the plunger retracts far enough to bolt the flange back to the cylinder. then release hte flat blade screwdriver.
