Im currently trying to get my cj7 to run. upon taking the plugs out I found these ends that were on the plugs. I am not sure if they are supposed to be on there or not, or if that is part of the reason she wont run. they were only on the two back cylinders towards the firewall.

wtf:huh well it appears that whatever it is, your two cylinders have been dead (not recieving spark). pull em off and see what happens:macho

well they are black on the ends, like it is getting some spark, but as you said, wtf. I pulled them out and was surprised cause I have never seen anything like that before. Once i get the new timing chain and what not on i will try with those off. I wasnt sure if they were supposed to be on there for cylinder clearance (shouldnt be) or if they were on there for some reason.

Sounds like someone was trying to save some gas mileage by shutting down 2 cylinders? You're intake on those 2 cylinders may be bypassed too?

I found out what they are. They are anti-fouling pieces. the plug goes inside and sparks. There is a hole on the end, so its not sealing the plug off, I have just never seen them before.

nice lookin jeep, hoping mine might look decent one day. Currently just trying to get it to run. Have some valvetrain issues to work out.

I also have a jeep question if you dont mind me bumping your thread.

Will an 85 CJ7 top fit a 91YJ? I dont think it will but thought I'd ask anyway.
