either, but it wont do much of anything because they are both mechanically injected...buy a powerstroke

u can chip the 98 dodges if it is the later 98's. Dodge switched in the second half of 98. if it has a 24 valve cummins u can chip it .....if its early 98 and older it has the 12 valve with the mechanical pump and you cant chip it but u can turn the pump up for more power!

Yep.

It's actually pretty surprising the amount of power increase you can get with just turning the pump up

After 98.5 you could chip the cummins engines just be carefull as the injector pumps are known to take a crap at random times with no warnings. Give me a 12 valve (94-98) any day. extremly easy and cheap to build to give you excelent power. As a plus its also going to be extremly reliable.

you can do plenty of things with the older cummins, it doesnt require any electronics, all mechanical stuff. my dad has a '90 with no cats or muffler and 5" stack sticking through a homemade wood bed. sounds good.

The Powerstroke can't get out of it's own way! On top of that, the Ford trans is a piece of CHIT!!! The Cummins is so OVERBUILT because it started life as a HEAVY truck diesel that it is almost indestructible!!! I'll put my Cummins against any GARBAGE Powerstrokemeoff ANY day! MOPAR or no car! A Cummins is not that overbuilt, people just think they are bulletproof. While they are better than most newer diesels they aren't what most people think, they can actually be hit and miss; Killer dowel pins, blown head gaskets, thrrust bearings falling apart, and among a few other things cases splitting... Most of those things can happen at stock power levels, and this in Cumming from a Cummins fan, I'm just more realistic and more unbiased than most...

Every engine has its flaws. The kdp can be tabbed, FASS systems installed to protect VP's. I have heard of most head-gaskets failing around 50 psi, where o-rings and studs should be installed. The Cummins is a TRUE medium duty motor, you have to see the innards to understand. Still, if you drive it too hot or without proper modification, eventually it will burn down just like anything else. I havent seen other makes with the types of miles these engines can rack up and keep running.

That's why we have two of them.

Deffently not bullet proof.

This truck has been blown up 2 times. But it runs 12s;)

before his bigger turbo and new exhaulst...he ditched the stacks (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=1110047178)

This one is dad's truck. Not much going on on the outside, and not too much as far as mods yet, but we'll get up there someday. :D

This is my truck coming home from the dealer, I've hopped it up a little since then. I won't be running any 12's soon, it's a 5 spd.
