will a 250ex throttle work

need to know if a 250ex throttle assembly wil work on my 88r. found 1 real cheap, just dont know if i can make it work. nee a quick response

i think that the throttle doesnt have enough travel to open an R carb properly...... make take grinding the inside of the housing to get more room

or may work just fine .....
